Archer

A fine late 18th century iron framed, turn-off cannon-barreled, box lock, Queen Anne style flintlock traveling pistol. Bore approx. 50 cal., with 3" barrel. Throat hole cock with sliding top safety and bag shaped walnut grip with silver wire scrolling, fitted with a silver grotesque mask butt cap. Hallmarked with an 'H,' indicating manufacture in 1780-81. Frame marked "ARCHER" on the reverse, with "LONDON" on the obverse. Silver oval plate on back of stock with coat of arms and initials of original owner, which should be identifiable with research.

Photographs of "HORST HELD" with my grateful thanks.
