Pair of English Over & Under Flintlock Tap-Action Pistols by John Brown.

.36 caliber, 1 3/4-inch turn-off barrels in-the-white with gold-inlaid engraved herringbone bands.

Breeches with gold-inlaid leafy sprays, the tap action plate with gold-inlaid star. Tap-action locks, the boxlock sides engraved with panoplies and legend: Brown/London. Herringbone border trim. Sliding safeties. Folding trigger. Engraved screws. One-piece walnut slab grip finely inlaid with silver wire scrolls and vita-culture motifs. Back of grip with vacant narrow brass escutcheon surrounded with a delicate floral wreath profusely inlaid with tiny diamonds.

Note: John Brown, a silversmith and gunsmith worked at Lincolns Inn Fields, 1805-1808, one of his seven barrelled revolving pistols is in the Royal Collection at Windsor Castle.
