B. Cogswell

The punches which are on the weapon are obviously punches of British proofhouse .

The weapon is marked “Tranter Patent” what indicates the origin of the patent to us but not that of the manufacturer.

N°11.005T is the serial number.

It's a Tranter 4rd model.

It also carries the inscription B. Cogswell 224 Strand, London which is the mark of the retailer.

Benjamin Cogswell, to the 224 Strand in London of 1841 to 1863, then of 1864 to 1900 Cogswell & Harrison to the 223 and 224 Strand like to the 142 New Jump street.
