William HARRIS & C°

William (who had believed it?) HARRIS & C° are arms manufacturers domiciled in Birmingham and credits of 1799 to 1853.

The book “Der Neue Stöckel” mentions several William Harris: undoubtedly of the same family. One missed then imagination to give first names to the children…

Punches of test (of Birmingham!) are reproduced on this weapon of hunting (see Doc. in appendix).

So what we have here is a British made shotgun featuring backward locks and exterior hammers. 12 gauge. The 13 should be the barrel diameter in God knows what measurement system; there is a perfectly illegible stamp and the stamp with 2 crossed sceptres with the crown and the V is the Birmingham proof mark used until 1904.

I have no idea what the letters JCE mean.
