Unusual Mauchline-ware Cased Pair of Miniature Percussion Turn-off Barrel Muff Pistols by J. Siddins, c. 1850

1-inch barrels with proof marks, engraved box-lock actions with concealed triggers, checkered ivory grips set with vacant escutcheon plates and engraved German-silver pommel caps; Mauchline-ware case decorated on the exterior with a comical depiction of a duel of the period of the 1820s, the sides decorated with floral scrolls, the base with finely executed cross-hatching; the case's interior lined in red felt and containing two compartments with green and gilt arabesques, the compartment's edges finished in gilt, the lid's interior lined with fur.
