Hand engraved receiver marked as pictured with London on other side. Metal is a plum brown colour and solid wood grips with German silver inlaid, showing only modest handling mars.
VAN WART SON & CO is listed in Blackmore’s book "GUNMAKERS OF LONDON AS BIRMINGHAM MERCHANTS TO AMERICA AND THE WEST INDIES 1835-1882. VAN WART also supplied parts to American gunmakers.
