Deutsche Industrie Werke Berlin
Volkssturmgewehr VG 2 (VG2 Mass Raid Rifle)
(German
industrial factories in Berlin)
The VG2
was produced with the barrel of an aircraft machine gun and the magazine of the
K43 rifle.
Very rare
model, because produced under the "new" manufacturing method (Technique of
stamping sheet metal, spot welded with turned and milled steel parts)!
Cal.
8x57IS. Manufacturer Spreewerke Gotta branch in the Sudetenland. (The Spreewerk
Werk Grottau was located in Czechoslovakia) The barrel bears several Air Force
markings. This is an early build of the VG2 with serial number 1061, using
normal sheet metal.
On the
left side of the breech there is the number 1061 but the model indication is
missing. On the right side, the mark "chd". (Deutsche Industrie Werke Berlin,
manufacturer of the pressed breech).
For this
"earlier" model, the "ball" of the cocking lever is still turned out of mass and
riveted. He didn't have a guide rail yet.
This VG2
is made from a barrel of an MG 15 aircraft machine gun and a K43 magazine. It
was an order from the Fuhrer!
One of
the rarest German weapons! We know of around 30 pieces, but most are neutralized
or incomplete! Very rare rifle, made using the "new" manufacturing method!
Read
Desperate Measures by W. Darrin Weaver and the Spreewerk P38 (pistol) by Jan
Balcar!
These two
books give a lot of explanation!
