Sidehammer target pistol
These
single shot pistols were specifically designed for target shooting and are an
improved and heavier version of the standard single shot pistols. The pistol was
available in .34, .41 and .45 caliber with barrel lengths varying from 6 to 10″.
Compared to the standard pistols, these pistols were equiped with adjustible sights, a fingergrip on the triggergard and a ramrod under the barrel.
Very few of these pistols have been produced (around 200) in the period between late 1840's and begin 1850's.
The shown model has an 8" barrel and is in .41" caliber.
