Colt 1905
THE COLT MOD 1905 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL
6.100 made from 1905 to 1911, plus 201 under special military contract and having a different serial number range.
Caliber .45 Rimless smokeless, 7-shot magazine, based on the Browning patent.
Grips in checkered walnut, blued finish with case-hardened hammer.
The 1905 was the first Colt semi-automatic pistol made for the .45 rimless cartridge. The cartridge was the forerunner to the .45 ACP. The pistol has a grip safety.
A few minor variations were issued (markings, hammer spur shepe). Some specimens have been equipped with a shoulder stock, which is made from leather and metal and also acts as a holster (scarce).
The 201 made on special military contract are known as the "1907 contract"; they bear a KM inspection stamp, and have a swivel ring and a chamber loading indicator.
