Marlin 36C
Marlin model 36(C) Third Variation, chambered in 30/30 Winchester caliber.
Marlin manufactures these rifles from 1936 thru 1948. Prefix "D" serial number 7138 (1947) with all original Walnut wood.
Note: stock serial number is matched to the receiver. This rifle has a blued receiver, coil mainspring, full length magazine and a 20" round carbine barrel with dovetail ft sight.
Marlin lever action was very similar to the Winchester's model 94 with a few differences including a semi-pistol grip, solid top receiver with side bullet eject and micro groove rifling all features IMO that are an improvement over the Winchester 94's design. The flat top receiver allowed for an addition of a scope mount and holes are usually already drilled and tapped. Winchester did not have the ability to do this without modifying the receiver.
