Remington "Mississippi"
This small pistol is a William H. Elliot patent. It is
estimated that fewer than 10,000 were manufactured between 1867 and 1888.
Nicknamed "Mississippi Derringers" because of their supposed popularity with
river casino gamblers, these pistols feature a highly effective mechanism
consisting of a hammer that also serves as the breechblock, a spur trigger, and
a mainspring.
The barrel is inscribed "REMINGTONS.
ILION.N.Y./ELLIOT.PAT.AUG.27.1867" on the top.
This one is in box, which is even rarer.
