Smith &Wesson Hand ejector
S&W .44 Hand Ejector, 1st Mod. “Triple Lock” English Engraved - .44 Spl. cal., 6 ˝” barrel, original blue finish with mother-of-pearl grips.
This revolver has been confirmed by the S&W historian, Roy Jinks, as having been shipped to England in September, 1913.
The master-quality engraving, which is profuse and highly detailed, is definitely of the pre-World War One period and was almost certainly done by one of the well-known London engravers who were employed by firms such as; James Beattie & Sons, Wilkinson Sword, Ltd., Cogswell & Harrison, John Dickson, James Purdey & Sons, and Holland & Holland.
These companies catered to the upper-crust of the British society and furnished fine, high-grade handguns, rifles and shotguns to suit both “need and desire” of the hunting and shooting crowd that was so prevalent in the United Kingdom at the time.
British proofs are present on the barrel, cylinder and frame.
