Gaubert Jean Baptiste

Pistolet à canon coulissant en 9 mm flobert de Jean Baptiste GAUBERT.

Gaubert Jean Baptiste

Length: 37 cm

Caliber: 6 mmGaubert smooth; it was not, like many weapons of this type, transformed for the Flobert cartridge. The presence of the anvil on the breech edge proves it.

This anvil was fitted into the specific Gaubert cartridge, that is to say with a hollow base. It was therefore often ground to be able to chamber the Flobert (without this operation, it hits the anvil and the pistol cannot be closed; nevertheless, once ground, the hammer needle manages to strike it).

Markings: GAUBERT patented 7571; Liège proof marks, including the starred R. Gaubert therefore practiced until after 1873, but for how long? Even Jean-Claude Mournetas has no information on this subject.

I don't know who manufactured it for him in Belgium either, my Henket rifle is proof of that.
