Gold-Inlaid Patent Under-Hammer Screw-Barrel Percussion Pistol by Gosset, Paris, c. 1840

2 1/4-inch octagonal barrel of approximately .47 caliber, muzzle with border engraving and set with gold fore-sight, INVENTION GOSSET A PARIS inlaid in gold, under-side of barrel engraved 1 (number one of a pair); box-lock action engraved with rear-sight, florals, engraved folding-trigger; burlwood bag-shaped stock carved with a fishscale pattern.
