Pair of French Small Flintlock Pistols by Luzier-Givolat, St. Etienne, c. 1785

3 1/4-inch blued two-stage barrels with gold-inlaid rose buds and branches wrapping the barrels in a spiral orientation, the octagonal breeches with gold border-works and roses, rounded lockplates inscribed LUZIER-GRIVOLAT and A ST. ETIENNE, walnut half-stocks carved in high relief with foliage and inlaid with silver-wire in the form of simple scrolls, silver triggerguards with trophies-of-arms and silver grip caps with grotesque faces in the forms of a snarling beast.
