Soviche le Cadet

(Soviche the Junior)

Officer navy pistol for the Royal (non lawful) or merchant navy. Rather rare part.

Very appreciated in the middle of the 18th century.

This specimen is signed Soviche le Cadet (the Junior) (harquebusier with Saint Etienne in 1770 - 1783)

The principal characteristic of the weapon is its pommel which makes it call “large dogfish” (by comparison with the “dogfishes” designed by Duché (or Ducher) of Tulle, and which will give rise to model 1779 of navy). This important cap made it possible to be useful, on the occasion, of the pistol discharged like breakage head.
