The 1833 pistol : EXTRACTION
I discovered about 1 hour ago that one of my old round bullet molds calibrated
as follows XVI to the Paris pound (489g) is in fact the 17.05 mold intended for
Mle 1833 Cavalry Officer pistols!!!
The rest in pictures
Extraction after forcing with a mallet!!! It fits very well, here aimed fully
for a good grip in the lead.
The bullet comes out with the trace of the rifling (48 triangular lines).
Extracted bullet & view of the bullet puller screw (*).
The rifling ...............
Tip for disassembling the ball puller, because it tightens very tightly when
extracting (impossible without the small bars).
Another view after separation .............
The famous cal XVI mold (17.05mm bullet weight 30.5g).
In Roman numerals (XVI) inside the handle.......!!!
Now knowing the load to apply (about 1g of ""poudre du Roy"" (modern PNF2) and
having the bullets, all that remains is to start testing on cardboard!!!
