Canton of Luzern

At the 18th century, each household of the canton of Luzern was obliged to have a rifle. The city or the village and the number of the house were marked on rifle. This is one of these rifles. A French flintlock musket M 1777 converted into M1817/42 percussion and marked with the town of Luzern and number 212 with in more marked it cantonal. One can find such rifles in the Swiss museums or important private collections. GAUGE 17.6 millimetres.
