During the years of the Ottoman Empire there were superb gunmakers in Prizren, Sarajevo, Damascus and throughout the Empire.

Whilst these indigenous Muslim craftsmen and silversmiths were very  skilled, many of them were illiterate, almost none of the guns were signed
